Happiness is…Spinning yarn in your socks.

(I didn’t make the socks. They are from here.)
On New Year’s Eve, I had a bit of a fall in the snow on my way home from work. Kinda flew through the air and landed all sprawled out face down in the snow on the side of the street. A woman came rushing to offer me assistance. Really, I was more embarrassed than hurt; so, when she asked if I needed help, I told her to be careful, that the sidewalk was slippery. I gathered myself up, brushed the fresh snow off, and walked home along the tire ruts through the falling snow.
On New Year’s Day, I could feel the pain in my right knee and shin, as well as my left hand. Nothing that required medical attention, but I could tell that it was going to be a few days before I’d be able to treadle at the loom.
I’m one of those people who just can’t sit still. I could sit. My left leg was ok. That meant I could at least spin on my Journey Wheel. Over the long weekend, I managed to spin out two and a half bobbins and the fourth is on the wheel now.

In the background of the photo above you can see a black and white check project on my Wolf Pup Loom that I started over Christmas and can’t wait to get back to it! In the meantime, I spin…

OH my goodness! I hope the Journey physical therapy (and spinning mental therapy) helps you heal faster. Though I bet the Dr. Kitties are enjoying the fact that you are taking it easy.

Are those the crazy socks you talked about a couple of years ago? I lost the link to that lady and (being lazy) would appreciate your sharing if you remember.
I’m glad your fall was not worse – the owner of my LYS ended up with a steel rod and pins in her arm after her fall in mid-December. I

Must be something about New Year’s Eve 2008. You cannot weave due to a mishap, I cannot quilt due to sudden surgery on my right arm on NYE. But I can play with my yarn so am crocheting and loom knitting.
Hope your left hand/right leg are feeling better soon!

Ooof! That fall sucks. At least someone tried to come to your aid, which isn’t as common as it used to be. Glad you can still spin!

Gravity- not just a good idea, it’s the LAW!
The black and white project is classic elegance! Bravo. And the yarn is luscious as ever. Those socks, are so hot you could turn down the thermosat.

Dave, your work is gorgeous! I look at your site daily (am a lurker!) I knit and do other needlework and have started to think about weaving. What would be your recommendation about where to start from scratch? Is a rigid heddle loom a waste? Thanks so much, k

I want to reach right through the monitor and *seize* those blue/purple bobbins. Good thing technology has limits, eh?

That sucks about the fall. I went down a couple of weeks ago and it sucked! This morning was ice skate worthy. At least your fall means we get to look at spinning.

OH, falling in public is one of the worst, especially when you just feel like a clutz afterward. I can recall falling on my backside by the most used stairs in college, so not fun.
I am glad to know you are going to be ok. Are Miss Lulu and Dusty caring for you?

Oh, I do truly hope you’re just sore and nothing serious is wrong!
What a lovely sight – colorful socks and a spinning wheel. Oh, what’s that box behind the bobbins? Looks like a couple that I own – they came from Vermont, but were gifts and I can’t remember the maker.

I love your socks, I know they come to MSWF, so I will have to stop by their booth this year. I am doing more spinning these days and you know how I love purple, that is going to be gorgeous yarn.
